History and Evolution

Originally named the Provincial Museum of Jambi, Museum Siginjei stands as a treasure trove of historical and cultural knowledge. It was inaugurated by Maschun Sofwan, S.H., the Governor of Jambi Province, on February 18, 1981. Officially opened on June 6, 1988, by Prof. Daud Hasan, the Minister of Education and Culture, the museum underwent a name change due to the implementation of Law Number 12 of 1999 on Regional Autonomy, becoming the Jambi Provincial Museum under Regional Regulation Number 15 of 2002. However, on October 30, 2012, it was rebranded as Museum Siginjei under Governor's Regulation Number 26.
