FREE MEDICAL CHECK-UP PROGRAM 2025: A SPECIAL HEALTH GIFT FOR ALL INDONESIANS
A special birthday gift from the government for the health of all citizens, ensuring every age group is cared for and protected from an early stage
Starting in 2025, the Indonesian government will introduce an innovative program offering free medical check-ups for all citizens, from young children to the elderly. Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced that this program is intended as a “birthday gift” from the state to its citizens, with screenings conducted on each individual’s birthday to support early health monitoring.
This program is tailored to detect specific diseases based on age group, ensuring that people in each stage of life receive the care they need. For young children, screenings will focus on congenital diseases, such as congenital hypothyroidism, which can be treated early to prevent severe outcomes. Teenagers will receive screenings for dental health, obesity, and diabetes, while adults will be tested for early signs of cervical cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. For the elderly, screenings will cover conditions such as Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, and other age-related health issues.
The Ministry of Health is currently preparing the technical details needed to implement this program. Designed by President Prabowo, this initiative aims to enhance public health by promoting early detection and prevention, so that diseases can be addressed before they become more serious.
Participating in the free check-up is straightforward: individuals can visit their local health center (Puskesmas) on their birthday or health facilities like schools, bringing identification such as a KIA or KTP. The provided data will then be verified against the population database managed by the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil), which supports data collection for all screening participants.
Currently, BPJS Kesehatan screenings cover 14 types of diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke, cervical cancer, and tuberculosis. With this new program, the screening categories will expand to address specific health needs by age group, allowing for a more targeted and effective approach.
This program represents the government’s commitment to creating a healthier and stronger generation that understands the importance of regular health monitoring. It is also expected to reduce the public’s financial burden in accessing healthcare.
Through a partnership between the Ministry of Health and Dukcapil, this program is set to significantly improve health standards across Indonesia. Citizens now have a valuable opportunity to take charge of their health, backed by full government support.
