ARCHIPELAGO INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS CANCER CARE INITIATIVE TO EAST KALIMANTAN

Bringing hope and support to children fighting cancer through inspiring CSR activities

Archipelago International, the largest hotel operator in Southeast Asia, continues its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts through the Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative (ACCI) in East Kalimantan. This initiative, in collaboration with several of its network hotels, including Aston Samarinda, Quest Hotel Balikpapan, and Hotel Neo Balikpapan, aims to support children battling cancer.

This marks the third ACCI event of the year, following successful activities in Banjarmasin and Surabaya. The initiative underscores Archipelago International and its affiliated hotels' unwavering commitment to assisting and supporting cancer patients, particularly children. This time, the focus was on Rumah Singgah Kanker Anak in Balikpapan, a shelter for cancer patients, which received a visit from the management and hotel teams of Archipelago International in East Kalimantan.

Fundraising Activities and Support

As part of the event series, the hotels under Archipelago International also organized various fundraising activities. These included a Weekend Charity at Samarinda Central Plaza Mall, where Aston Samarinda's management and staff hosted a food and beverage bazaar, a Preloved Sale, and a community gathering. Other fundraising events were held at Grand City, Lapangan Merdeka, and Gedung Parkir Klandasan Balikpapan, with Quest Hotel Balikpapan featuring a live cooking stand serving "roti pisang banjar." Additionally, Hotel Neo Balikpapan organized a food and beverage bazaar during the Bhayangkara Anniversary event at Grand City. Each hotel also hosted fundraising activities on their premises, inviting guests to contribute. All proceeds from these events were fully donated to Rumah Singgah Kanker Balikpapan. The series of events ran from early June to July 18, 2024. The donations were directly handed over to the foundation's management in the form of cash assistance, basic necessities packages, and support for each child. These contributions aimed to help meet the needs of children with cancer.

In addition to the donation handover, the ACCI event was enlivened by a Magic & Bubble Show by Cikobadut Samarinda. Executive Chefs from the hotels under Archipelago International also participated by giving cooking demonstrations and interacting directly with the children from the foundation.

John Flood, CEO of Archipelago International, stated that the Cancer Care Initiative reflects their dedication to mutual support, showcasing their commitment as they expand this CSR program in Kalimantan. They are deeply involved in the well-being of the surrounding communities and demonstrate their care for them.

Archipelago International's efforts through ACCI in East Kalimantan are not just about providing assistance but also about building strong relationships with the community and offering tangible support to those in need. This initiative is a concrete example of corporate social responsibility with a positive and compassionate impact, highlighting the importance of contributing to improving the quality of life for children battling cancer.
