ALUNAN BUDAYA DESA PRINGGASELA RAYA: A LIVING TRIBUTE TO HERITAGE AND CULTURAL SPIRIT
A celebration that brings together artistic expression, unites local creativity, and sparks a renewed spirit from Eastern Indonesia
Amid the sounds of gamelan and the dedication of traditional weavers, Pringgasela Village in East Lombok is once again coming alive through Alunan Budaya, a major cultural celebration currently taking place. For the second consecutive year, this event has been selected as part of the national Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2025 program and has earned the highest distinction as the top-ranked KEN event in West Nusa Tenggara. This recognition affirms how local cultural richness continues to connect great aspirations with meaningful public support.
With the theme From Cultural Villages to a Glorious Indonesia, the ninth edition of Alunan Budaya is running from July 20 to 26, 2025, at the Monument of Struggle (MOPRA) in Pringgasela Raya Village. This central venue is well-suited to welcome over 10,000 visitors. This year's main performance, Nyiwaq, which means 'nine' in the local language, is currently being staged. It is considered a sacred number symbolizing completeness and transformation. Rather than merely continuing past traditions, Nyiwaq represents renewed hope and a step forward in both meaning and execution.
As a cultural festival, Alunan Budaya features not only visually captivating performances rich in meaning and philosophy but also serves as a vital space for preserving local traditions such as Pringgasela’s signature handwoven textiles. These crafts, deeply embedded in the community’s identity, are being showcased through interactive activities and exhibitions that breathe new life into cultural values passed down through generations.
More than just a celebration, the event is making a tangible contribution to the local creative economy. The involvement of local micro, small, and medium enterprises is helping to stimulate economic growth, while the influx of visitors is expected to positively impact the livelihoods of residents in the Pringgasela subdistrict.
This year’s edition is being held in a hybrid format, combining on-site experiences with online broadcasts via platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. This approach allows the event to reach a wider audience and encourages broader participation, whether in person or online.
Driven by a spirit of collaboration and a deep commitment to cultural preservation, Alunan Budaya 2025 is becoming a powerful reminder of how a village can raise its voice for Indonesia. Pringgasela is now showing that hope and national pride can truly flourish from a village.
