PATTERNS OF VESSELS: A FUN AND INTERACTIVE ART EXHIBITION AT KIN SPACE

Art becomes an interactive playground where children can touch, explore, and create in a cultural adventure

KiN Space, an interactive children's venue at SCBD Lot 7A, Jakarta, is back with another exciting educational exhibition. This time, they present Patterns of Vessels, an interactive installation by contemporary artist Eldwin Pradipta. More than just a visually captivating display, this exhibition offers a hands-on experience that encourages children to learn through play.

An Art Exhibition Designed for Exploration and Play

Unlike typical art exhibitions that restrict direct interaction with the artwork, Patterns of Vessels invites visitors, especially children, to engage with the displayed installations. The artwork is inspired by jars and vases adorned with traditional Chinese cultural motifs but with a unique approach. Eldwin Pradipta draws inspiration from ancient Chinese and Dutch ships found in shipwrecks and archaeological sites in East and West Java. These ships serve as evidence of the important role the Nusantara region played in global trade in the past.

Instead of fragile ceramic materials, Eldwin Pradipta uses inflatable PVC, allowing children to embrace, move, and create patterns with the vessels. The installation responds to their movements—shifting left or right alters the visual patterns displayed on the screen. Integrated video mapping technology enhances the experience, adding a dynamic artistic element.

Through the patterns and motifs displayed on the giant vessels, children are encouraged to explore the richness of Nusantara culture and understand how external cultural elements have influenced the development of art in Indonesia through a play pedagogy approach.

This exhibition runs until April 20, 2025, and is open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM WIB. Ticket prices for weekdays are Rp80,000 for adults and Rp195,000 for adults with one child. On weekends, ticket prices are Rp95,000 for adults and Rp230,000 for adults with one child.

With its innovative and educational concept, Patterns of Vessels at KiN Space is the perfect destination for families looking to introduce children to art in a unique and engaging way. Don't miss the chance to play, learn, and explore culture in this extraordinary exhibition!
