A captivating creative stage, blending contemporary innovation with local tradition in a vibrant arts and lifestyle festival

Today, Prawirotaman is once again at the center of the fashion scene with the opening of Fashion on the Street 2025, taking place from August 22 to 24. The event is a collaboration between the Yogyakarta City Tourism Office and House of Lmar and is part of the Prawirotaman International Festival 2025. This annual festival celebrates arts and culture along Jalan Prawirotaman 1 in Yogyakarta, running from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Since its debut in 2013, Fashion on the Street has become a major attraction for enthusiasts of fashion, art, and culture. This year, the festival returns with the theme Funky Indonesia Style: Denim ex Batik, blending the elegance of classic batik with the universal appeal of denim. The streets of Prawirotaman are transformed into a lively open-air runway, showcasing a harmonious mix of traditional and contemporary trends on one inclusive stage.

Creativity and Collaboration

Fashion on the Street 2025 is more than a fashion show. It serves as a platform for collaboration among designers, creative communities, and local artists. The event aims to reinforce Prawirotaman’s status as a tourism landmark and one of the world’s emerging fashion hubs. It highlights Yogyakarta’s ability to merge innovative artistry with rich cultural heritage.

The Prawirotaman International Festival 2025 also features a wide array of arts and cultural activities that highlight the diversity of local creativity. From Batik Art exhibitions and District Creative showcases to traditional dance performances and live band concerts, all activities take place in public spaces along the main street, allowing visitors to experience multiple attractions seamlessly within one area.

Special and Inclusive Performances

The opening of Fashion on the Street 2025 features a spectacular performance by the Lion Dance Jogja community, setting an energetic tone for the festival. The Funky Kebaya parade by designer Lenny Agustin brings a fresh and modern perspective to traditional Indonesian attire. The Big Size Fashion Show adds an important element of inclusivity, reflecting the festival’s support for diversity in fashion.

Towards the end, visitors can enjoy a bazaar and a charity fun run organized with Lions Club International. The festival also highlights tropical-sustainable designs by designer Tony Winata, combining recycled denim with Jogja’s signature tropical batik, showcasing a commitment to environmentally conscious creativity.

All events at the Prawirotaman International Festival 2025 are free and open to the public. With the unique artistic and cultural atmosphere of Prawirotaman, the festival offers a special opportunity to celebrate diversity while enjoying the vibrant collaboration of denim and batik in a lively and contemporary setting.
