BUSINESS FORUM IN GDAńSK: INDONESIA AND POLAND UNLOCK GLOBAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Young talents and future leaders find new pathways to global success through international collaboration and fresh cross-border initiatives

Career breakthroughs do not always happen close to home. Sometimes, the biggest opportunities come from across the world. That was the energy at the Growing Opportunities in Economic Cooperation business forum held in Gdańsk, Poland, on June 17, 2025.

The event brought together nearly 170 participants and more than 40 companies from key sectors, including food, technology, transportation, construction, pharmaceuticals, and shipbuilding. But this forum was more than just a meeting for corporate leaders. It opened doors for young professionals, creative talents, tech innovators, and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The forum marked part of the 70th-anniversary celebrations of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Poland. Organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) and the Embassy of Indonesia in Warsaw, the event provided a platform to explore new business collaborations, especially for young people with a global vision.

“We don’t just see Indonesia as a location. We see it as the center of opportunity,” said Cezary Filipek, Director of PAIH for Indonesia. He emphasized that Indonesia’s position as the heart of ASEAN makes it a prime destination for global business expansion.

The numbers reflect growing momentum. Polish investment in Indonesia jumped from 134 projects in 2023 to 393 in 2024, with a total value reaching USD 9.3 billion. For those aiming to build global careers, start businesses, or enter industries like technology, pharmaceuticals, the creative economy, tourism, or renewable energy, this is a promising signal.

Beyond business deals, the presence of prominent figures like Indonesia’s Minister of Culture Fadli Zon and Bali Governor Wayan Koster highlighted how both countries are also investing in the younger generation, particularly in creative industries and vocational education.

“There is huge potential for youth-led partnerships in agriculture, energy, defense technology, and cultural tourism,” said Acep Somantri from Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Poland is now Indonesia’s 12th largest trading partner in Europe, with annual trade consistently surpassing USD 1 billion since 2022. But to elevate this partnership, more globally-minded young talents are needed to drive innovation and collaboration.

For students, job seekers, and young entrepreneurs, the growing Indonesia-Poland relationship offers more than diplomacy. It is a gateway to building international careers and becoming part of global economic growth.
