The Riau Regional Police, in collaboration with the International Marathon and Distance Running Association and World Athletics (AIMS-WA), will once again host the prestigious Riau Bhayangkara Run 2025. The event will take place on July 13, 2025, in Pekanbaru City, Riau, as part of the 79th Bhayangkara Day celebrations.

More than just a running competition, Riau Bhayangkara Run also serves as a platform for environmental awareness. This year’s event carries a powerful message through the One Million Trees planting campaign. The Riau Police encourage the public to understand that planting a tree today can provide countless benefits for the environment in the future. It is a concrete step in addressing climate change and protecting nature for generations to come.

What makes this year’s event even more special is its official certification from World Athletics, issued on May 27, 2025. With this certification, all race categories meet global standards and are officially recognized on the international stage.

The Riau Police are targeting 15,000 participants from both Indonesia and abroad. There will be four race categories to choose from: The 5K General and Student category, ideal for beginners, students, or anyone looking to enjoy a short-distance run. The 10K General and Student category, designed for those who want to challenge themselves with a mid-range distance while experiencing the city atmosphere of Pekanbaru. The 21K National category, perfect for seasoned runners ready to conquer the half-marathon distance. The 21K International category, open to participants from other countries, offering an international-scale competition.

All routes will take runners through the iconic Sudirman Street, offering scenic views and a dynamic city backdrop that blends urban charm with the energy of sport. The event also carries the tagline Riau For Run, Grow for Tomorrow, emphasizing that every step taken is a real contribution to building a greener and better future, especially for Bumi Lancang Kuning.

In addition to the running competitions, participants will also support the Green Policing initiative and the environmental ethics program introduced by Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan. This initiative promotes reforestation and environmental education as a shared responsibility.
