PINTU FOCUS WEEK 2025: A CREATIVE BRIDGE CONNECTING INDONESIAN AND FRENCH FASHION
A cross-cultural celebration uniting fresh ideas, global talent, and creative heritage in an atmosphere of inspiring fashion
PINTU Focus Week is taking place again this year from July 21 to 31, 2025, in Jakarta and Yogyakarta. The fourth edition of this Indonesia-France fashion incubation program offers a series of events that bring together creativity, innovation, and cultural heritage through a collaborative platform. More than just a fashion event, PINTU serves as a significant opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and France.
This edition features the participation of 20 fashion designers and professionals from France in an intensive program that includes mentoring sessions, studio visits, professional meetings, and fashion shows. In addition to introducing emerging talents, the program also prepares Indonesian designers to showcase their collections in Paris this coming October.
First launched in 2022, PINTU, which stands for the Incubation Program for Fashion Talents and Enterprises, is a collaborative initiative led by a consortium of public and private institutions from both countries. These include the French Embassy, IFI, JF3, Lakon Indonesia, École Duperré Paris, and others. Since its inception, the program has supported more than 100 young designers and encouraged the development of joint creative projects across borders.
The year 2025 marks an important milestone for PINTU. For the first time, two French designers, Priscille Berthaud and Kozué Sullerot, are taking part in a three-month residency in Indonesia. They are working closely with local artisans to develop collections that combine contemporary aesthetics with traditional Indonesian techniques such as batik and ikat weaving.
Among the highlights of this year's PINTU Focus Week are PINTU Night Yogyakarta, which took place on July 25 at IFI Yogyakarta, and two fashion shows on July 27 at Piazza Fashion Tent in Jakarta. The first, titled Echoes of the Future, featured a collaboration between six Indonesian brands and three young designers from École Duperré. The second, New Scripture, presented the works of Solène Lescouët, Jude Ferrari, and Louise Marcaud, three emerging names in the contemporary French fashion scene.
Today, July 29, the Indonesian-French Seminar on Fashion and Crafts is being held at IFI Thamrin in Jakarta. This full-day event brings together professionals from both countries to discuss key issues in the fashion industry, including sustainability, innovation, and the creative economy.
On July 30 at 6.30 PM, the Lakon Indonesia and Victor Clavelly fashion show will take place. Titled Fragments, the show will open with a presentation by Victor Clavelly, a French designer known for his exhibition at Paris Fashion Week Sphère at Palais de Tokyo in June 2025. He is recognized for his post-apocalyptic design universe, sculptural 3D-printed silhouettes, iconic Kiss boots co-created with Rick Owens, and custom pieces made for Katy Perry. The event will be held at Scientia Square Park, Summarecon Mall Serpong, South Tangerang.
Also taking place from July 30 to August 10 is the DRP Festival Jakarta. Now in its second year, the DRP Paris festival celebrates urban culture including fashion, music, art, hip-hop, and breakdance. The Jakarta edition features five French streetwear brands and will be held at the same venue in South Tangerang.
PINTU has become a key component of the cultural partnership between Indonesia and France. This was emphasized by President Prabowo Subianto and President Emmanuel Macron during their state visit to Borobudur in May. Today, PINTU represents not only a platform for creative exchange but also a concrete example of a well-structured and lasting bilateral relationship.
Driven by a shared spirit of collaboration and cultural appreciation, PINTU Focus Week 2025 creates new pathways for the creative industries of both nations to grow and flourish on the international stage.
