Pontianak is once again at the heart of the culinary scene as the Kalbar Food Festival 2025 unfolds. This highly anticipated annual event, now in its sixth edition, is currently underway at the A. Yani Mega Mall Complex in Pontianak, running from February 8 to 16, 2025. It offers an exciting opportunity for the public to savor a variety of traditional West Kalimantan dishes alongside other enticing culinary delights.

As the largest culinary festival in West Kalimantan, Kalbar Food Festival 2025 is not only offering a rich gastronomic experience but is also attempting to break a Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) record for the most participants drinking durian coffee. This attempt highlights the growing enthusiasm for the festival, which has already been successfully held five times before.

In addition to showcasing local culinary treasures, the festival is currently providing a platform for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to introduce their products. Various innovative and signature Kalbar food products are being featured as part of the Saprahan Khatulistiwa series. With MSME participation, the festival is expected to further drive local economic growth and offer business owners greater opportunities to expand.

This year, the festival is featuring 168 culinary booths, with additional support from Bank Indonesia, potentially bringing the total to around 200-210 booths. These booths offer affordable rental prices, allowing more entrepreneurs to join in. For many MSMEs, participation in this festival has often been a stepping stone to business expansion.
