Jakarta Film Week (JFW) is back! Organized by the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud), this prestigious festival aims to promote and develop the film industry. Taking place for the fourth time, the eagerly awaited international film festival will run from October 23 to 27, 2024, at three main venues: CGV Grand Indonesia, Kineforum Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), and Hotel Mercure Cikini, Jakarta.

Exciting and Free Programs for Everyone

JFW 2024 offers a wide range of exciting programs that are free for all audiences. Visitors can participate in various events, including film screenings, discussions, masterclasses, pitching forums, and networking opportunities. One of the highlights of this year’s festival is a MasterClass led by a renowned editor from Hong Kong, focusing on the regeneration of professions within the film industry.

The festival will also showcase a curated selection of films from Indonesia and abroad, all vying for prestigious awards. Prominent figures in the film industry, such as Novi Hanabi (Film Procedure & Program Manager of Jakarta Film Week) and Candra Aditya (director of "Rabu yang Bahagia"), will share their insights and experiences throughout the festival.

Featured Films and Prestigious Awards

A major highlight of JFW 2024 is the screening of the Indonesian film "Sampai Jumpa, Selamat Tinggal" (World Premiere), directed by Adriyanto Dewo. This film features a talented cast, including Putri Marino, Lutesha, Jourdy Pranata, Jerome Kurnia, and Kiki Narendra. The festival will conclude with the Vietnamese film "Don't Cry, Butterfly," which received acclaim as the best film at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.

Additionally, the festival will present awards in six categories: Global Feature Awards (Best International Feature Film), Global Short Awards (Best International Short Film), Global Animation Awards (Best Short Animation), Direction Awards (Best Indonesian Feature Film), Series of the Year (Best Original Series), and Jakarta Film Fund Awards (Film Production Award from the Jakarta Film Fund winner).

High Engagement and Enthusiasm

Jakarta Film Week 2024 has generated remarkable enthusiasm, receiving a total of 1,132 films from 85 countries, which were narrowed down to 140 films from 50 countries. This achievement underscores the festival's importance in strengthening the global film ecosystem.

The theme for this year, "Resonance," reflects the profound impact that cinema can have. Jakarta Film Week serves as a tradition that enhances the charm of Jakarta through the creative industry, transforming it into not just an entertainment event but also a platform for celebrating filmmakers and their works.

All tickets for films at Jakarta Film Week are free. Audiences can obtain tickets online starting October 17, 2024, via the Tixid application (subject to a service fee). In addition to in-person screenings, JFW 2024 will offer online film viewings through OTT Vidio, allowing even more people to enjoy the festival.
