EXPLORING PERSONAL IDENTITY:

EXPLORING PERSONAL IDENTITY: "THEM" EXHIBITION AT ISA ART GALLERY

A vibrant exploration of identity through dynamic art, weaving together personal narratives and social reflections

ISA Art Gallery presents “THEM,” an exhibition offering a profound exploration of personal identity. Running from June 13 to July 29, 2024, this exhibition invites visitors to delve into the complexities of how internal narratives and external influences shape who we are. The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM WIB.

"THEM" provides a fresh and critical perspective on identity, showing how it's shaped by dynamic interactions between elements such as gender, sexuality, political beliefs, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and personal desires. The exhibition presents identity as a rich tapestry, where each thread represents a different aspect of our complex selves.

The "THEM" exhibition showcases the works of 17 talented artists from diverse backgrounds and unique artistic practices. They include Aiman, Alexander Hernandez, Ardi Gunawan, Davion Alston, Dzikra Afifah, Ezzam Rahman, Ghost Mountain Field, Grim Park, Henryette Louise, Jackson Farley, James Nguyen, Monique Yim, Naraphat Sakarthornsap, Sack Tin Lim, S. Klitgaard, Tamarra, and Vinny Castro. These artists do more than explore the complex threads of identity such as gender, sexuality, political ideology, and racial background; they also challenge and redefine perceptions of identity itself. Through their works, they present rich and varied narratives about how identity is formed and understood in a broader social and cultural context.

A key objective of "THEM" is to raise public awareness about the intricacies of identity and to foster social transformation. The artworks act as bridges between personal introspection and societal expectations, encouraging visitors to engage in meaningful dialogue about how personal and social identities interact. Each piece reflects the artists' journeys in understanding and expressing their identities.

This event is free and open to the public, offering an inclusive opportunity to experience challenging and captivating art. Visitors are encouraged to bring friends and loved ones to engage with the artwork and its themes collectively. "THEM" aims to deepen our understanding of personal identity and the value of diversity in society.
