The Province of Riau Islands (Kepri) is solidifying its name as a prime tourism destination in Indonesia with the inclusion of its four flagship events in the agenda of Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2024, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf). Out of a total of 110 KEN events held across various regions of Indonesia in 2024, four of them are located in Kepri.

KEN is an initiative aimed at driving economic growth through quality activities in various regions. Out of the 110 KEN programs in 2024, 100 are flagship programs designed to attract 7.3 million tourists and empower tens of thousands of workers and local SMEs.

1. Padang Melang International Folklore Festival

The Padang Melang Festival, an annual event, showcases the coastal Malay cultural arts typical of the Anambas Islands Regency, in collaboration with Malay cultures from various regions in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Held from July 24 to 28, 2024, at Padang Melang Beach, Jemaja Island, Anambas Islands Regency, Kepri, this event not only enlivens culture but also provides education for local residents and visitors.

2. Tanjungpinang Fest

Tanjungpinang Fest, an annual event, celebrates the diversity of culture and arts from various cultural groups in the city of Tanjungpinang. Scheduled from August 5 to 11, 2024, with the theme "Collaboration to Build the Nation," this event aims to involve various stakeholders, art enthusiasts, and SMEs to boost the local economy. It will collaborate with the Merdeka Coffee Festival and the Coastal Malay Festival, at Merdeka Street, Old Town Tanjungpinang.

3. Batam Wonderfood & Art Ramadan

This event successfully showcases various culinary delights from Batam City, featuring traditional to modern cuisines. Additionally, the traditional market will offer exciting attractions such as traditional dances, traditional music, poetic exchanges, traditional games like tops and stilts, ketupat weaving, and making traditional headdresses. This event has been ongoing from March 10 to April 19, 2024.

4. Kenduri Seni Melayu

The Kenduri Seni Melayu has been successfully held from June 7 to 9, 2024. This event features rich cultural artworks in music, dance, and literature, presented by artists and art studios from Batam City and several other regions in the archipelago. The goal of this event is to preserve and develop the potential of cultural arts while increasing tourist visits and the local economy of Batam City and the Riau Islands Province.

All of these tourism events have been carefully selected and approved by the Ministry and designated to be held in the Province of Riau Islands.
