BALI CULTURAL PARK OPENS IN POLAND, SHOWCASING INDONESIA’S CULTURAL DIPLOMACY IN THE HEART OF EUROPE
An exotic miniature of Bali has arrived in the heart of Europe, blending the richness of Indonesian culture
The opening of Bali Cultural Park at Dolina Charlotty Resort, Słupsk, Poland, marks a significant milestone in strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between Indonesia and Poland. Officially inaugurated on June 16, 2025, by Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, and the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, the event was supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Warsaw.
Covering three hectares, Bali Cultural Park is now the largest Balinese cultural center in Europe. Nestled within the exclusive Dolina Charlotty Resort, surrounded by lush forests and lakes in northern Poland, the park brings the authentic spirit of Bali to the heart of Europe. Traditional temples, ogoh-ogoh statues, intricate sculptures, iconic gates, art pavilions, and bale bengong resting areas were all crafted by skilled Balinese artisans using materials largely imported from Indonesia.
The idea behind Bali Cultural Park originated from Mirosław Wawrowski, owner of Dolina Charlotty Resort and Honorary Consul of Poland for Indonesia. His deep admiration for Indonesian culture began twelve years ago after visiting Bali, inspiring him to recreate the essence of Indonesia in his homeland.
More than just a tourist attraction, Bali Cultural Park reflects how culture can serve as a powerful tool for international diplomacy. The park is designed to be a hub for cultural exchange and education. Fadli Zon expressed hope that it will become a global space for interaction, offering artist residencies, educational programs, and international artistic collaborations.
During the inauguration, visitors enjoyed vibrant performances by ISI Denpasar, dancers from Jakarta and East Nusa Tenggara, and the enchanting sounds of gamelan. These performances blended the magical atmosphere of Bali with the cool summer air of Poland, creating a unique and memorable experience. The event was even more meaningful as it coincided with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Poland.
Looking ahead, Wawrowski plans to expand the project by developing replicas of other Indonesian provinces across his 15-hectare property. This vision reflects his belief that culture can transcend borders, connecting people across distance, language, and history.
The presence of Bali Cultural Park in Poland is expected to further introduce the richness of Indonesian culture to European audiences and inspire more tourists to visit Indonesia, particularly Bali. Through initiatives like this, Indonesia continues to strengthen its global presence and cultural diplomacy.
