ART FAIR SINGAPORE CELEBRATED 15TH ANNIVERSARY WITH EXCITING PROGRAMS
Featured a diverse range of global artworks, interactive experiences, and inspiring charitable activities
The Affordable Art Fair returned to Singapore from November 7-10, 2024, marking its 15th anniversary in the city and its 25th year of global exhibitions. Hosted at the F1 Pit Building, this year’s event offered a rich and engaging experience, featuring a diverse selection of local and international art, immersive experiences, and a variety of workshops, all designed to celebrate the transformative power of art.
Top Artworks from 83 Local and International Galleries
This year’s edition featured 83 galleries from Singapore and around the world, presenting over 700 artworks by 91 Singaporean artists, alongside 23% new galleries. Attendees were treated to a wide range of artworks reflecting diverse global artistic perspectives, making it a prime opportunity to explore high-quality, affordable art. Whether it was paintings, sculptures, or installations, the fair catered to art aficionados and newcomers alike, offering something for every taste.
Arty-Licious Evening: A Night of Art and Charity
On November 8, 2024, the Arty-Licious Evening provided a memorable, extended experience with several exciting activities. Along with enjoying the art, the evening supported charity by donating $2 from every ticket sold to the Caregiving Welfare Association. Attendees also had the opportunity to explore the therapeutic benefits of art through the Art Therapy Talk. Additionally, $10 from every apple sculpture purchased at the Spirit of the Apple installation was donated to support caregivers.
The evening also featured Talking Textiles’ Original Handmade Print Stamp Rally, a special 15th-anniversary experience that showcased 1,500 limited edition prints. Participants were invited to create their own mini artworks by layering four unique stamps, mimicking the color separation process in silkscreen printing. Each stamp added a new layer of detail, allowing visitors to watch their creations come to life in a fun, hands-on way.
Special Projects and Interactive Exhibitions
In addition to the art displays, Affordable Art Fair 2024 included special projects designed to deepen public engagement with the arts. These included art installations, workshops, live demonstrations, and performances by artists, all providing interactive opportunities to understand the creative process.
One of the key highlights was the #SPOTLIGHT exhibition, celebrating 15 years of the Affordable Art Fair and featuring 20 galleries that have participated over the years. Each gallery showcased a significant artwork that represented their artistic journey—past, present, or future—offering visitors an exclusive look into the evolution of these galleries and their creative visions.
Workshops and Immersive Experiences for All Ages
For younger visitors, the Children’s Art Studio, hosted by Art Wonderland and Republic Polytechnic, offered children aged 4-12 the opportunity to engage with art through the theme “10,000 Leagues Below Singapore: Unveiling Hidden Treasures.” In this hands-on workshop, kids created intricate paper sculptures inspired by mythical sea creatures using recycled materials. The program nurtured creativity while emphasizing the importance of sustainability in art-making.
Photography enthusiasts had the chance to join workshops from Objectifs Centre for Photography and Film, including sessions on “Exploring Photo Print Types” and “How to Frame Your Artwork.” These workshops provided valuable insights into the techniques behind fine art photography, alongside practical advice on framing art. With daily photo collage sessions and discussions, these workshops were perfect for both budding photographers and art lovers looking to better understand the creative process behind photography.
Special Exhibition: Celebrated Singapore’s Art Galleries
The Affordable Art Fair also featured an exhibition by Aestheletic Fine Art Gallery and artcommune Gallery, two prominent members of the Art Galleries Association Singapore (AGAS). The exhibition highlighted AGAS's vital role in promoting professional and ethical gallery practices, while raising awareness about the cultural value of art in Singapore.
A Unique Opportunity to Appreciate Art
Affordable Art Fair 2024 was more than just an art exhibition—it was a rare chance for visitors to explore the ever-evolving world of contemporary art. With its wide selection of accessible artworks, the fair not only introduced the public to a diverse range of artistic expressions but also deepened their understanding of art's meaningful place in our lives.
