UNVEILING HONG KONG'S ARTISTIC JOURNEY: HKTB'S THREE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH ART BASEL

This New Strategic Partnership Positions HKTB as the First Tourism Organization to Partner with Art Basel Worldwide

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Art Basel have launched a new three-year global partnership, marking HKTB's first strategic alliance with Art Basel, a leader in the contemporary art world. The announcement was made during Art Basel's press conference in Basel, with plans to expand collaboration beyond Hong Kong to all Art Basel events worldwide, starting with Art Basel Paris in October this year.

As the Official Partner of Art Basel, HKTB will play a crucial role in four annual Art Basel events held in Paris, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Basel. This collaboration aims to offer unique art experiences and globally promote Hong Kong's art and culture through various thematic activations and immersive engagements.

Mr. Dane Cheng, Executive Director of HKTB, stated, "Our strategic partnership with Art Basel reaffirms our commitment to elevate Hong Kong as an international cultural hub bridging East and West, and as a gateway to the Chinese art market. By showcasing Hong Kong's unique characteristics through deep-rooted experiences on the world's most prestigious art platform, we aim to inspire travelers to visit Hong Kong and explore its vibrant creative community and rich cultural heritage."

Meanwhile, Noah Horowitz, CEO of Art Basel, added, "We are delighted to establish a long-term partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board and launch this ambitious initiative. By spotlighting Hong Kong's dynamic art scene globally, this partnership will enhance the visitor experience at our exhibitions, create new opportunities, and foster deeper connections between Hong Kong and the global art community."

Art Basel debuted in Hong Kong in 2013 and has collaborated with HKTB on successful projects, including the "Cha Chaan Teng" initiative launched earlier this March. This project celebrates Hong Kong's local culture through direct experiences in colorful cha chaan tengs, iconic Hong Kong-style cafes. Visitors can enjoy local dishes like pineapple buns and milk tea while gaining deeper insights into the city's cultural heritage blending East and West.

The three-year partnership between HKTB and Art Basel will officially commence with Art Basel Paris at the Grand Palais, Paris, from October 18-20, 2024. This marks a significant milestone in positioning Hong Kong as an enticing destination for art and culture, expanding its influence on the global stage.
