Filled with cultural pride, shared values, and the spirit of unity and global vision

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Indonesia hosted an official reception to commemorate the 107th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence on Monday, 26 May 2025, from 18:30 to 20:30 at the Bali Room, Hotel Kempinski, Jakarta. The event marked a significant occasion to remember the founding of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on 28 May 1918, while also reinforcing bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Indonesia.

The reception was attended by a number of distinguished guests, including Hidayat Nur Wahid, Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, government officials, representatives from the business, academic, and cultural sectors, members of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Indonesia.

The event commenced with a photo exhibition portraying the life of Azerbaijan’s National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, alongside displays of the country's historical and cultural heritage, including that of the Karabakh region. Guests then stood for the national anthems of both countries, symbolizing mutual respect and international cooperation.

Several documentary videos were also screened, highlighting the history of Azerbaijan’s independence movement since 1918, its modern development, and its rich tourism potential, renowned for natural beauty and cultural legacy.

In his remarks, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Ramil Rzayev, emphasized that the values of democratic governance, gender equality, and sovereignty—established by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic—continue to form the foundation of the nation's identity. He also underlined the role of President Ilham Aliyev in advancing the political vision initiated by Heydar Aliyev, which has contributed to Azerbaijan’s rapid progress and growing international stature.

Ambassador Rzayev also noted that Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War enabled the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity, followed by extensive reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories.

On behalf of the Government of Indonesia, Prahoro Yulijanto Nurtjahyo, Head of the Department at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, extended congratulations to the people of Azerbaijan on this historic achievement.

This celebration not only commemorated Azerbaijan’s independence, but also symbolized the strength, resilience, and determination of a nation striving for a better future. It reaffirmed the enduring values of freedom, unity, and international friendship that continue to connect the two countries.
