OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT: 33 INDONESIAN HOTELS AND RESORTS HONORED WITH THE PRESTIGIOUS MICHELIN KEY 2025
A proud tribute to Indonesia’s world-class retreats and exceptional hospitality
Indonesia has reached a new milestone in the global hospitality industry with its first-ever recognition in the Michelin Key 2025 awards. Following its successful introduction in Europe, Japan, and Thailand, the exclusive rating system by The Michelin Guide has officially arrived in Indonesia. The global launch held in early October 2025 marked a significant moment for the nation’s tourism sector, as 33 Indonesian hotels and resorts received this prestigious accolade.
The Michelin Key is the hospitality counterpart of the world-renowned Michelin Star, long celebrated in the culinary field. Its assessment focuses on five main criteria: architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, hotel character, value for money, and contribution to the environment and local community. This system establishes a new global benchmark for evaluating guest experiences, emphasizing uniqueness, excellence in service, and sustainable values.
The Michelin Key is categorized into three levels of recognition: One Key for a very special stay, Two Keys for an exceptional stay, and Three Keys for an extraordinary stay. In the inaugural 2025 edition, Indonesia proudly celebrated three hotels that received the highest distinction: Nihi Sumba in Sumba, Amanjiwo in Magelang, and Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud. These remarkable properties were praised for offering exceptional experiences that blend elegant design, local culture, and the genuine warmth of Indonesian hospitality.
Six other hotels earned the Two Michelin Key distinction, namely Amankila in Bali, The Sanchaya in Bintan, Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape in Bali, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, The Langham Jakarta, and Raffles Bali. These establishments were recognized for delivering exceptional experiences through distinctive architecture, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that delights every guest.
Meanwhile, 24 hotels and resorts across Indonesia were awarded One Michelin Key, including COMO Shambhala Estate, Chapung Sebali, Lost Lindenberg, Amandari, Viceroy Bali, Bisma Eight Ubud, Nirjhara, Plataran Komodo Resort & Spa, Blue Karma Village, Cap Karoso, Hotel Tugu Lombok, Capella Ubud, Soori Bali, The Purist Villas & Spa, REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort Nusa Dua Bali, Jimbaran Puri A Belmond Hotel, Samsara Ubud, The Legian Seminyak, Raffles Jakarta, Bvlgari Resort Bali, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan, Garrya Bianti Yogyakarta, and The St. Regis Jakarta.
Indonesia’s inclusion in the first-ever Michelin Key list represents global recognition of the nation’s growing excellence in hospitality. This achievement not only showcases the exceptional design and world-class service of Indonesian hotels but also highlights the nation’s cultural richness, warmth, and commitment to sustainability. With 33 prestigious recognitions, Indonesia continues to shine as one of the world’s most distinguished luxury travel destinations.
