NGAYOGJAZZ 2025: “JAZZ DIUNDANG MBOKMU!” BRINGS VIBRANT ENERGY AND CELEBRATES HARMONY

A lively celebration blending jazz rhythms, village charm, and local culture into an unforgettable experience

Yogyakarta’s biggest jazz festival, Ngayogjazz 2025, returns to spread warmth and togetherness through music deeply connected with local culture. Since its debut in 2007, this annual celebration has become a beloved event for jazz enthusiasts across Indonesia. This year, Ngayogjazz will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Kalurahan Imogiri, Kapanewon Imogiri, Bantul Regency, in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Carrying the playful yet heartfelt theme “Jazz Diundang Mbokmu!” (meaning “Your Mom Invited Jazz!”), the festival reflects the openness, unity, and welcoming nature of Yogyakarta’s community. More than just a concert, Ngayogjazz creates an inclusive space for everyone—regardless of age, background, or social standing—to enjoy music in a friendly, village-style atmosphere.

Imogiri was chosen for its deep cultural roots and scenic rural beauty. Set against the charm of traditional life, visitors will experience jazz blending seamlessly with the local setting, where modern creativity meets time-honored traditions.

A special feature of Ngayogjazz 2025 is that admission is completely free, welcoming everyone to join without cost. Guided by the spirit of “don’t worry about tickets—just come and enjoy,” the festival invites people to gather, celebrate, and share joy through music.

Beyond the main stage, the event offers a variety of attractions, including Pasar Jazz, a bustling marketplace featuring traditional food, handmade crafts, and local souvenirs. Visitors can also explore art exhibitions and cultural performances from Imogiri, creating a rich harmony between jazz and traditional art forms.

Performing artists often collaborate with local musicians, blending Western instruments with traditional Javanese sounds such as gamelan, kendang, and siter. Traditional dances are frequently reimagined with modern flair, proving that jazz can flourish anywhere—even in the heart of a village.

With its people-focused spirit and inclusive approach, Ngayogjazz 2025 is more than a music festival—it is a celebration of culture, creativity, and togetherness. Surrounded by the warmth of the community and the joyful rhythm of jazz, the festival continues to unite music, tradition, and the vibrant soul of Yogyakarta.
