INDONESIA ECONOMIC SUMMIT (IES) 2025: FOSTERING BUSINESS COLLABORATION FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH

Drive innovation, investment, and collaboration to build a sustainable economic future for Indonesia

The Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2025 was successfully held on February 18, 2025, in Jakarta. This prestigious event attracted more than 1,500 participants from 48 countries and featured 100 speakers, including policymakers, business leaders, experts, and academics. Organized by the Indonesian Business Council (IBC), the forum served as a strategic discussion platform focusing on high, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.

The Chairman of IBC’s Supervisory Board, Arsjad Rasjid, emphasized that IES 2025 was not merely a gathering but also a momentum to transform ideas into concrete actions. "We hope that IES 2025 is not just a meeting platform but a turning point where ideas become concrete steps. We want to ensure that the discussions at IES 2025 create a significant impact in driving Indonesia’s economic growth and realizing public welfare," he stated. He underscored that sustainable economic growth could only be achieved through cross-sector collaboration, including close partnerships with the government in creating pro-investment and pro-growth policies.

Meanwhile, IBC CEO Sofyan Djalil expressed his hope that IES 2025 would strengthen the private sector's contribution to national economic growth. "IES 2025 will bridge business leaders, economic experts, and policymakers to discuss strategic steps and policies that can create a public policy environment conducive to achieving high, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth," he said. He also highlighted that the right public policies could enhance competitiveness and facilitate business and economic activities.

During the forum, IBC COO William Sabandar presented various discussion topics relevant to Indonesia’s economic challenges and opportunities amid global geopolitical dynamics. The key topics included priority economic strategies, monetary and financial policies, the growth of the manufacturing sector, and global trade strategies in the face of ongoing trade tensions.

One of the speakers in the industry session, Salman Subakat, Co-founder of ParagonCorp and an IBC member, emphasized the importance of policies supporting the business sector, particularly the manufacturing industry. "We need policies that can drive the business sector, especially the manufacturing industry, as this sector plays a significant role in triggering high, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth," he stated.

IES 2025 also resulted in various concrete commitments through the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the government, private companies, and international institutions. These agreements covered strategic projects in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and human resource development. One of the key projects announced at the event was the establishment of a renewable energy hub in Eastern Indonesia, along with a vocational training program to enhance the skills of the local workforce.

With the initiatives and collaborations generated from IES 2025, it is expected that the concrete actions taken will accelerate Indonesia’s economic growth in an inclusive and sustainable manner. This event was not just a platform for discussion but also a catalyst for real actions that will bring long-term benefits to the national economy.
